The special weekly
thriller
By Yinon Arieli | December 24, 2007
The market was stepping in place this week as the main indexes increased their
value by only 1-2%, while here at Yalicoo we had a festivity of returns (even my
own portfolio beat the market…) I know many of you participated in our holiday
special competitions, but in any case let me share the highlights and part of
the excitement that occurred last week.
The
weekly competition attracted almost 200 players. TheTrader and Fred lead the
competition until the last day, while tech was placed third and was constantly
closing the gap between them. Few other experts, such as iverson, WaNnAeBe,
GlassEye and others, were tailgating closely behind. The last two days were the
most exciting ones. Tech performed a series of winning picks, such as Omniture,
Inc. (OMTR) and Echelon Corporation (ELON), passed all the other traders and
took the lead. The thrilling story continued when TheTrader also performed a few
excellent moves, keeping the gap between tech and himself as small as possible.
But that’s not the end of the story…
The scoreboard was crowded. LaBombaGrande, LIVEandLEARN and WaNnAeBe, also gave
a tough fight to the leaders and chose a number of winnings stocks of their own.
The last few hours in the last day of the competition were thrilling and the
spread on the scoreboard was quite small. Eventually, tech succeeded in keeping
the lead and won with an impressive return of 11.5%! TheTrader (11%) and
LaBombaGrande (9.3%) were a little bit behind at second and third places.
This week was surely amazing. But be sure that we’ll continue to have even more
fun and excitement in the weeks to come. As the Yalicoo community grows, more
excellent traders join the games and make them even more interesting and
challenging. More players on Yalicoo also means that more knowledge and ideas
are gathered on the site. Since many Yalicoo players have already proven their
unique trading skills, those stocks have high potential to beat the market in
the relevant time frame. Think about it, Yalicoo’s statistics (which I’m going
to discuss next week) show that Yalicoo players are beating the market
throughout every timeframe that we checked. Thus, using stocks from
Yalicoo’s
competitions in your real portfolio can assist you in increasing your returns
over time. Keep this point in mind when playing on Yalicoo.
One week to go in 2007…
Christmas is getting closer, which means that 2007 is about to end. This also
means that the last
quarterly and
monthly competitions of 2007 are close to
their final points. The quarterly is one of my favorite competitions since it
gives you the time to think and choose the right stocks for your portfolio.
Also, you have the time to learn many investment ideas and correct your
mistakes. Fortunately, there are many investors to learn from; their names
usually appear on the scoreboard. Fred (23%), HKN (21%) and FortuneTeller (15%)
are among those experts. They are also safely leading the competition. Getmoney
(15%) is also still in the picture, with great potential to rank in one of the
first places. It will be hard to pass these four expert investors, but the game
is not over until it's really over.
The statistics of the current
quarterly competition shows that players who
joined early succeed to overcome the late comers and gain substantial advantage
at the first weeks. Thus, start to consider (and register…) the next
quarterly
competition which starts next week.
The
monthly
competition attracts the highest number of players; this time we have more than
350 participants. Victheslick (16.7%) succeeded in keeping the first place. I
watched the stocks he picked over the last three weeks and I was amazed to see
that most of his picks were sold with a positive gain. Flip (12.5%) and
TheBreeze (11%) are far behind in second and third place. While the gap between
these three and all the other competitors is substantial, I wouldn’t be
surprised to see changes on the scoreboard in the last week of the competition.
It will be interesting to see who will have the last word.
